It’s hard to believe we are already almost half way through 2021 and that this weekend is the 4th of July! Last summer’s isolation from friends & family has us me itching to entertain and just BE with people. Throw in the new house, the new baby, multiple moves… I’m also really needing some EASY in my life right now. And bright. And summery. And COLORFUL! And just in case you are too – I’m sharing my bright and fun summer tabletop essentials and favorite grilling recipe.

The hardest part about outside dining for me is always scrambling to get everything outside, so I wanted to create a system that made setup simple. I love the bright and colorful tabletop vibes for summer, but still wanted to mix in my usual black and white to ensure this look flowed with the rest of my house. Everything you see in this drawer is from Walmart. I curated these items based on cuteness (duh) but also on their functionality. The wine glasses are shatterproof. The melamine serveware is dishwasher safe. And the bamboo cutting board has handles and juice groove – perfect for grilling season! I have everything set up and ready to go in a drawer of my island and easily transport silverware, napkins and condiments to the tabletop in a cute woven caddy.

So what’s grilling? This flank steak recipe is so ridiculously easy. The marinade is made ahead of time with ingredients you probably already have at home, and the steak takes only 12 minutes total on the grill! Here are the details:

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 TBL brown sugar
  • 2 TBL ground ginger
  • 1 TSP Salt
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 cup red wine

Whisk ingredients together well. Marinate steak 12 – 24 hours. Grill on high, hot fire – 6 minutes on each side. Slice cross-wise and serve! Enjoy!

Be sure to check out Walmart‘s amazing selection of home, patio and tabletop items to help welcome summer and celebrate the season to create your own backyard escape. Whether you’re casually grilling with the family on a weeknight or entertaining for guests, your spread can still be upbeat and colorful! I have accepted monetary compensation and free product or services from Walmart in exchange for my endorsement of Walmart. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
