Your bedroom should be the ultimate reflection of your personal style and goals. What would make you happy to wake up to, a moody and cozy space or a bright and airy one? Do you favor soothing colors or bright, happy colors? Take some time to really think about each piece of furniture and decor in your bedroom – do they measure up? Once you identify your style goals, make sure that each item you add or update is worthy of the space. Slow and steady wins this race, always!

Why is it the bedroom always is the LAST room we budget for? You spend about one third of your life in bed, folks. I’m all for affordable textiles that can be swapped out when life (dogs, babies, etc) happens. But for that 5-star resort feel, you have to shell out on the sheets. Personally I love bamboo blend sheets. They are breathable and get softer with every. single. wash. My favorites are by Bedvoyage, which can be purchased on Amazon or sometimes at Costco!

When it comes to bedrooms, space can be limited (for the 99% of us, anyway). That’s why selecting furniture and decor that serves a dual purpose is so important. If you have room for a bench, you better make sure that bench has storage or can hold baskets. Your nightstand likely will need at least one drawer for cords, lip balm, glasses and remote controls. You dresser should have AMPLE drawer space. When in doubt, chic trays and decorative canisters make the perfect accessories for your dresser-top (and act as the perfect catch-alls for well, your crap!)

Yes, you need (at least one…) throw pillow. The style of your dresser matters. The blank wall needs to be filled! The finishing details make all the difference between a room with a bed in it and a put together, refined retreat. Don’t be afraid to change out or spray paint hardware to refresh old or cheaper pieces to make them cohesive with the space. Check out Etsy for some affordable print-yourself wall art options. Target has amazing affordable bedding, and the Hobby Lobby pillow selection can’t be beat! You don’t have to have a huge budget to make a huge impact in the bedroom.
