Officially October. And the weather is officially cooling down! Even though I’m living in a rental right now – and even though most of my Fall decorations are lost somewhere in storage – it’s not keeping me from cozying up our living room for Fall! From the simple act of lighting a candle or adding a fresh floral arrangement to more orchestrated updates like new pillow arrangements, read on to see how you can infuse a little seasonal coziness into your space.
Diffuse a Signature Fall Scent
Whether you’re into burning candles, essential oils, or using a diffuser – a fall scent can do wonders for the cozy factor of your space. And it’s probably the easiest and most cost effective update you can make to welcome in the new season! I’ve been loving the “Fireside” candle from target. And recently started diffusing Pura fragrances in my home – their tinsel and spice has made my home so warm and homey!
Add Fresh Fall Foliage
I’m HUGE on fresh flowers. Since quarantine / social distancing efforts have really impacted my ability to shop for florals myself, I’ve recently been trying out Urban Stems (the “Mimosa” bouquet is pictured below). Their bouquets are so on-trend! In their “Fall Bouquets” section I was amazed at the selection of tonal, autumn-themed arrangements, I honestly couldn’t decide which ones to gift myself! If you’re less selfish than I am, you might consider sending to a friend or loved one to brighten their day – the packaging presentation is beautiful and gift-like, there is an entire “Gift” section you can filter by occasion, and ordering online and tracking your shipments is super easy. Or I mean, get a classic bouquet or plant for yourself and make your home ready for any occasion. YOLO.
Swap in New Pillows & Throws
You just can’t beat texture when you start entering the colder months of the year. Layering on blankets, rich fall hues, cozy knits and classic kilim textiles is a sure way to set the mood in your living room. I snagged a bunch of pieces from the Studio McGee / Threshold collaboration at Target, and can’t get over how cozy the throw blanket is! I also have a faux fur waterproof blanket (because, kids) and love to layer in one of a kind finds from my favorite affordable kilim pillow shop on Etsy. Mix patterns till your heart is content – just make sure and stick to a cohesive color palette. My new(ish) Emma sofa from InMod set the perfect moody backdrop for rust, olive and tan textile assortment.
