Well, it’s that time folks. The first day of Spring! And everywhere you look everyone is talking about it being the first day of spring because this winter was BRUTAL and we’re so. damn. excited. But if you’re like me, you go darkkkkkk during the winter. The snow and freezing temps have you cozy, layered and monochrome. Sometimes it seems impossible to dig yourself out of that winter vibe, especially on a tight budget! That is 100% how I feel about my bedroom right now. We haven’t even moved back in our bedroom yet (bathroom reno problemz) but I’m already scheming on how I refresh it for when we get to move back in! Read on for 5 ideas on how to refresh your bedroom for spring on a tight budget.

Changing up your entire bedding situation is out of the budget. But with a few strategically purchased throw pillows / blankets, you can achieve a light and airy look for less! I’ve been eyeing this Opalhouse throw from Target for awhile now, and lucky for me it’s on sale! If shopping small is your thing, I’m obsessed with the shop Bantale. This cream pom pom pillow has my heart!

Not going to lie, art is one of those things that’s really overwhelming to me. I can’t commit to expensive pieces because I just don’t trust myself… I know I will always want to change my mind. Enter Etsy. I love being able to download really cool prints on the cheap and send them to Costco to be printed while I’m doing my grocery shopping! So easy (and cost effective!) for quick updates. So what am I eyeing for spring? These B&W foliage prints by HeartsinColors. Obsessed with the entire shop, actually!

Faux or fake, whatever your preference – nothing makes a space say spring like new greenery! I killed the last real plant that resided in my bedroom (RIP Olive!) because I kept forgetting to open up the blackout shades during the day. Totally my fault – but I’m definitely going to be going faux when I move back into my bedroom. I’ve been eyeing this huge fiddle leaf fig forever (has great reviews, endorsed by CLJ, everyone raves about it!) so I think I might just have to pull the trigger.

If you’re like me, you probably have various baskets around your house that you’ve accumulated throughout the years. Put one to good use in your bedroom! If you’re going to throw clothes on a chair – why not in a huge basket instead? Create a home for that new plant you’re adding! Or keep your magazines and bedside knick-knacks in a basket instead of stacked on your nightstand. I have this one from World Market down in my mudroom and love it because it’s huge and sturdy. It just might be making an appearance in the bedroom shortly… which brings me to my last tip….

I know, everyone says this. You’re getting tired of hearing about it. But sometimes a piece that is totally tired in another room will feel new again once you put it in a new space! A pillow, a rug, a console table, a dresser – sky is the limit here, folks. Get creative! I’m planning on doing a LOT of swapparoos. Like pulling in the dresser from our guest room (it has nice warm walnut tones), shuffling some baskets, some end tables – but most importantly, re-homing my living room rug to the bedroom. I have been complaining about this rug non-stop in my living room, but it’s abstract print and light tones are JUST what my bedroom needs to break out of it’s winter funk (plus it adds fuel to my fire to get a new one for the living room!)
